Together with Sidney Carter (Columbia) and David Clark (Johns Hopkins), one of the primary founders of modern Child Neurology as a subspecialty of Neurology. Under Ray Adams, Dodge was the first Chief of Child Neurology at the MGH from 1956-1967. Many of the most prominent physician-scientists in Child Neurology, including Joseph Volpe, Darryl De Vivo, Hugo Moser and Verne Caviness all trained with Dodge at the MGH or at Washington University School of Medicine, where he served as the Mallinckrodt Chair of Pediatrics from 1967-1986.
