Bio:

Founder of the Laboratory of Biological Sciences in 1927, in Montevideo, Uruguay, modeled after the Cajal Institute in Madrid, Spain, where he was trained. The center in Montevideo continues to train generations of neuroscientists to this day, and now bears his name. He also founded the Biological Society of Uruguay.
