Dr. Harwood was a registrar for Raymond Heirons in the mid 1970s. He was a brilliant diagnostician and went on to serve as consulting neurologist at the Medway Foundation NHS Trust, where the neuroscience unit has been named in his honor (2011). He is credited with training many of the neurologists in south east England.
