"W. Duke-Elder"Bio:
Institute of Ophthalmology could be UCL's, but I have not been able tro confirm that.
To find Duke-Elder's academic parents, I searched University of St Andrews's library catalog for Duke-Elder's various theses, hoping to see their Acknowledgements sections. The only thesis I could find was his 1927 DSc; it is not available on-line.
I also read two of Duke-Elder's publications prior to 1927. The contained no Acknowledgements sections.
To get something, I went from https://livesonline.rcseng.ac.uk/client/en_GB/lives/search/detailnonmodal/ent:$002f$002fSD_ASSET$002f0$002fSD_ASSET:378628/one?qu=%22rcs%3A+E006445%22&rt=false%7C%7C%7CIDENTIFIER%7C%7C%7CResource+Identifier
To find Duke-Elder's academic children, I searched UCL's library for theses Duke-Elder might have supervised, but there seems to be no way to identify supervisors from UCL's library's search tools. More than 200 theses, from ProQuest, contain citations of Duke-Elder's works, but this is not particularly helpful.
I hope, if you have read this far, you have more luck.
