Tenhaeff (1894 - 1981) was a Dutch parapsychologist and the world's first holder of a university chair in parapsychology.
Tenhaeff studied philosophy, psychology and ethnology at the University of Utrecht, and earned his Ph.D. in 1933 on a thesis on parapsychology, "Clairvoyance and Empathy". In the same year he got a teaching position for Parapsychology at the University of Utrecht. He was co-founder of the "Tijdschrift voor parapsychology" (1928). During the Second World War he joined the resistance and in 1942 went into hiding.
In 1953 he founded a parapsychological institute at the University of Utrecht and got a chair of parapsychology. He became known for his research working with Dutch clairvoyant Gerard Croiset.
Tenhaeff was a controversial figure, and was accused of lacking in scientific rigor
