Born in Beijing, China, Dr. Limei Zhang is a Mexican neurophysiologist and Professor of Medicine at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She holds MD, MSc and PhD degrees from UNAM and completed postgraduate training at Oxford University, UK. She has been visiting professor at the MRC Anatomical Neuropharmacology Unit, Oxford, Max-Plank Institute (MPImF), Heidelberg, NIDA/NIH, Baltimore, NanKai University, Tianjin, and Univ. Castilla-La Mancha, Albacete. She has been awarded the IBRO Research Fellowship (2000-2001) and is currently a Fulbright Visiting Scholar in the National Institute of Mental Health, NIH. Dr. Zhang was elected to the Mexican Academy of Science in 2002. Dr. Limei Zhang’s laboratory is focused on the question of how the hypothalamic neuroendocrine system modifies brain information processing and social behaviours, especially during stress coping and over the lifespan.
