Brain-soluble oligomers of the amyloid β-protein in urban children and young adults
The objective of this research is to characterize and quantify the soluble oligomers of the amyloid β-protein in two crucial target brain areas: frontal and temporal cortex, using autopsy samples of children and young adults exposed to severe versus low urban air pollution.

Air Pollution and Central Nervous System Disease
Goal is to establish a firm scientific basis to the link between air pollution and brain alterations, including defining the role of oxidative DNA damage in neurodevelopment and neurodegeneration, determining if there are quantitative changes in RT-PCR expression of inflammatory modulators and stress response proteins, determining their potential association with biomarkers of oxidative damage, and defining the neuropathology component of this environmental disease. Also crucial is the exploration of fetal CNS developmental effects in bitches exposed to air pollutants.
