"Johann Rabl-Rueckhard"Bio:
born Sept 1, 1839 in Potsdam
died December 10, 1905 in Berlin
Referenced in Finger (Origins of Neuroscience) for his hypothesis that parts of neurons can move as a basis for psychic functions (learning and memory). The hypothesis is outlined in a short article in the Neurologisches Centralblatt (1890, Volume 9, Pages 199-201). This parallels the hypothesis of Tanzi, published a few years later, which was a more sophisticated version with what would come to be called butons growing or shrinking as the basis of new connections between neurons.
