He studied Psychology (B.A. with Honors, 1969-1973), Psychobiology (Rutgers University, M.S., PhD, 1973-1978), and Medicine. Postdoctoral studies at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He taught at the School of Medicine of the University of Wisconsin in Madison, University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, and Deree - The American College Of Greece. Visiting professor at the University of Texas at Houston School of Medicine. Awards: Franklin Honors Society, 1973; “Top Professor” award, University of Puerto Rico, 1992.
