Oswald Marchesani (* May 1, 1900 in Schwaz/Tyrol; † March 6, 1952 in Kiel) was a German-Austrian ophthalmologist and university lecturer.
Life

Marchesani grew up in Bozen and studied medicine at the Franziskanergymnasium Bozen in Innsbruck and Freiburg after school. He received his doctorate in 1923 in Innbruck. Under Richard Seefelder he began his ophthalmological training at the Eye Clinic in Innsbruck, later worked briefly in Freiburg and moved to the Munich University Eye Clinic under Karl Wessely in 1927.

He habilitated in 1928 and became an unscheduled professor in 1934. Although he was not a member of the NSDAP[1], he was appointed to the chair of the University of Münster in 1934 and taught there as a full professor from 1936. Finally, at the beginning of 1945, he was offered the chair of the University of Hamburg as Carl Behr's successor, which he accepted only after the end of the war.
