Bio:

Obtained my doctorate in neuroscience from CU-Boulder (1986) under the mentorship of Dr. Herb Alpern (U.C. Irvine, 1968), and came to NIH under the mentorship of Dr. Phil Skolnick (George Washington University, 1973), the co-discover of the central benzodiazepine receptor. We studied the pharmacogenetics of ethanol sensitivity showing significant mediation of ethanol response by the GABA-BZ receptor. After joining the pharmaceutical industry, was on teams that developed and obtained global approvals for Risperdal (Bipolar Disorder), Consta Depot (Schizophrenia), Invega (Schizophrenia), Razadyne (Alzheimer's), Effexor (Major Depressive Disorder & Panic Disorder), Pristiq (MDD), and was CNS-RA Leader for the Alzheimer's MAB - bapineuzumab. As a consultant guided teams obtaining FDA approval for Firazyr (hereditary angioedema), Ferriprox (iron chelation), Latuda (schizophrenia) and Xifaxan (C. Difficile induced hepatic encephalopathy).
