Gerhard Preuner (1873 - 1928) promovierte 1898 in Heidelberg und habilitierte sich am 30. Juli 1903 in Kiel für Chemie. Am 20. Oktober 1910 wurde ihm die Titularprofessur verliehen. Mitte 1917 wurde er Leiter der Physikalisch-Chemischen Abteilung des Chemischen Instituts und am 31. August 1921 zum a. o. Professor ernannt.
