"Whitney Wyche"Bio:
Whitney Wyche is a graduate student in the Graduate Program in Neuroscience at UIC-COM. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, and completed the Post-Baccalaureate Research Education Program at The University of Iowa. There Whitney studied the cellular and molecular factors contributing to network organization in major depressive disorder with Rainbo Hultman. She is now investigating the neurobiological factors contributing to the recurrence of late-life depression in The Computational Neuroimaging and Connected Technologies (CoNeCT) Lab with Drs. Olu Ajilore. Specifically, she examines how the stress response from discrimination impacts Salience network connectivity. Her work is inspired by her passion for identifying and addressing health disparities to improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations. In addition, she enjoys practicing yoga, mindfulness meditation, and spending time with friends and family in her free time.
