Lorenz fand ich schon während meiner Schulzeit zum Studium der Ethologie und bekam später in großzügiger Weise Gelegenheit, den Hauptteil der Arbeit an seinem Institut durchzuführen. Herr Dr. J. Burchard leistete durch seine Kritik und viele Auskünfte über das Verhalten anderer Cichlidenarten wertvolle Hilfe. Herr Prof. Dr. H. Autrum und Herr Dr. H. Mittelstaedt trugen sehr zur Verbesserung der Darstellung dieser Arbeit bei. Ihnen allen sei an dieser Stelle gedankt.
