Bio:

I studied physics in the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (1992-97) and did my PhD in the computational group of Néstor Parga. I defended my thesis on computational implications of short-term synaptic depression in Feb. 2003. In October 2004 I moved to New York to be a postdoc in the lab of Alex Reyes in the Center for Neural Science (NYU) where I learned to do whole cell recordings in cortical slices and worked on computational models of correlation transmission and auditory circuitry. I enjoyed collaborating with Brent Doiron and Eric Shea-Brown. In October 2008 I started a second postdoc in the lab of Ken Harris in the Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience (Rutgers, Newark). There, I worked with Alfonso Renart in modeling recurrent networks and learned to perform population cortical recordings in anesthetized rats. In September 2010 I came to IDIBAPS (Barcelona) as a 'Ramón y Cajal' MICINN researcher where I have started my own lab.
