Michael V. Vitiello, PhD received his AB from Columbia University in 1973 abd his doctorate from the University of Washington in 1980. He is Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Gerontology & Geriatric Medicine, and Biobehavioral Nursing, Co-Director of the Center for Research on the Management of Sleep Disturbances, and Co-Director, Northwest Geriatric Education Center, University of Washington, Seattle. He is an internationally recognized expert in sleep, circadian rhythms, sleep disorders and cognition in aging. He is Editor-in-Chief of Sleep Medicine Reviews, a Past President of the Sleep Research Society (SRS), a member of the Board of Directors of the Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine (SBSM), a past member of the Board of Directors of the National Sleep Foundation (NSF), and a Fellow (Health Sciences) of the Gerontological Society of America.
