Dr. Mary Waye received the degree of Bachelor of Science (Hon) from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and then took graduate work and received Ph.D. in Medical Biophysics at the University of Toronto, Canada. She was a post-doctoral fellow at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Medical Research Council, in Cambridge, UK as a Canadian National Cancer Institute Research Fellow (and was awarded the King George V Fellowship- for being the top candidate amongst all the post-doctoral applicants for the NCI fellowship in Canada). Dr. Waye returned to Canada as an assistant professor for the Medical Research Group in Periodontal Physiology, Department of Dentistry, University of Toronto from 1986-1992. She then went back to Hong Kong and has been there ever since
