Didem Gökçay graduated from the Electrical and Electronics Department of the Middle East Technical University with BS and MS degrees. She was a Fulbright scholar at the Department of Computer and Information Science and Engineering Department of University of Florida, where she obtained her PhD. She worked at McKnight Brain Institute as a research assistant during her PhD. Later she became a postdoctoral researcher at University of California, San Diego. She was the director of the MetuNeuro Lab and worked as an assistant professor at the Department of Health Informatics of the Middle East Technical University, Informatics Institute until 2019. Her major field of study is cognitive and affective neuroscience. She uses fMRI, fNIRS, thermal camera and pupillary responses for studying the interaction between cognition and emotion.
