Neuropharmacology. Neuromodulation by adenosine at the peripheral (neuromuscular junction) and central (hippocampus and cerebral cortex) nervous systems. Purinergic regulation of neurotransmitter release. Adenosine regulation of carotid body chemoreceptor activity. Characterization of adenosine receptors. Extracellular adenosine formation and inactivation. Role of adenosine in neuronal plasticity. Interactions between adenosine A1- and A2-receptors, and receptors for other neurotransmitters and neuromodulators.

Cardovascular Pharmacology. Adenosine and cardiac dysrhythmias.
