Bio:

Gottfried Otto Helmut Naumann, born 1935 in Wiesbaden, studied from 1952 to 1957 at the Medical Faculty in Leipzig. Further training as a specialist took place at the University Eye Clinic in Hamburg. From 1965 to 1966 he was a fellow at the Eye Department of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington/D.C. From 1966 to 1974 he worked at the University Eye Clinic Hamburg. During this time he received his habilitation in 1968, which was followed by his appointment as senior physician and professor. From 1975 to 1980, he was full professor and managing director of the Eye Clinic of the University of Tübingen; in 1980, he moved to the Erlangen Eye Clinic as chair.
