Bio:

Dr. Xue received his B.S in Genetics in 2000 and his Ph.D. in Neurobiology in 2005 in Fudan University. From 2005 to 2012, he was first a postdoc and later a research fellow in NINDS, NIH with Dr. Ling-gang Wu, where he studied the kinetics and mechanisms of synaptic transmission at calyx of Held which is a giant synapse mediating auditory processing in the brain stem. Dr. Xue joined the School of Life Sciences in Nov 2011 as a Professor.
We study the mechanisms of synaptic transmission in the central nervous system, mainly focused on the kinetics regulation of exo-endocytosis, synaptic plasticity and the modeling of vesicle recylcing. Projects include: 1. the mechanisms of calcium controlled exo-endocytosis; 2. calcium and exo-endocytosis affected synaptic plasticity; 3. The modeling of neurotransmitter release and vesicle recycling.
