Professor Stephen C. Woods received Ph.D.'s in Physiology and Biophysics as well as Experimental Psychology from the University of Washington in 1970, specializing in the endocrinology and neurobiology of ingestive behavior.He was on the faculty of Columbia University for 3 years and returned to the University of Washington where he became Professor of Psychology and of Medicine in 1978. He was also Chair of the Department of Psychology and Vice Provost for Research. In 1998 he became Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Obesity Research Center at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He is also the Co-Director of the Obesity Research Center at the University of Cincinnati Mouse Diabetes Phenotyping Center, which is funded by the NIH.


Professor Woods has authored over 400 scholarly publications, and has served on numerous scientific committees, review panels, and editorial boards.
