Bio:

Son of Harold Ray Bohlman, a professor of Johns Hopkins Orthopaedics.
Known by many as the ‘‘Father of Contemporary Spine Surgery,’’ 1937–2010
Since the mid-1980s, Dr. Henry H. Bohlman and dozens of his disciples have gathered at least yearly as the "Wine and Spine Society," named for the surgeon's two leading fields of excellence.
At age 72, seemingly in good health, Bohlman made his usual rounds Wednesday at University Hospital Case Medical Center. That night, he had dinner, wine and a cigar as usual at home in Shaker Heights. He died in his sleep overnight. The cause has not been determined yet.

Dr. Randall Marcus, chairman of orthopedic surgery at University Hospital, said Thursday, "No single surgeon did more to revolutionize spine surgery in the world than Henry Bohlman."
