Bio:

Laura McCloskey holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Michigan (1986) and is a Professor of Public Health at Indiana University. She has held faculty appointments at the University of Arizona, Harvard, Penn, Wayne State as the Director of the Merrill Palmer Skillman Institute, and the University of Illinois before joining the faculty at Indiana in 2011. Her area of research which was federally funded for almost fifteen years (1990-2005) is on gender-based violence relating to women's health and children's mental health. She has performed research in the United States, Mexico, Italy, Tanzania and South Africa where she won a Fulbright to investigate the effects of violence on HIV susceptibility in young women. She has published over 60 peer-reviewed articles.
