Bio:

(1083-1153) A Byzantine princess and medieval historian, Komnene was one of the first female historians in Western history. She developed a program of research devoted to commentary on the works of Aristotle, and while she was in exile for the attempted murder of her brother, she brought in and guided several philosophers under this program.
