In 2002, she received a Career Scientist Award from the American Association of Mental Retardation for her contributions to the field.

Currently, Dr. Sparrow is Professor Emerita and Senior Research Scientist of the Yale Child Study Center.
She is the 2004-2005 President of Division 33 of the American Psychological Association.
