My program of research is primarily focused on custodial grandchildren (children whose primary caregivers are their grandparents) and their grandparents. In particular, I investigate the physical, social, mental, emotional, and behavioral outcomes for these custodial grandchildren, as well as examining how they compare to children raised in foster care. I also investigate the connection between assuming care of one's grandchild and subsequent cognitive, physical, and emotional changes.
