Bio:

Takao Tsumuraya is an Associate Professor of Computational Material Science at Kumamoto University in Japan. He earned his Ph.D. at Hiroshima University under Prof. Tamio Oguchi in 2009. Following his Ph.D., he served as a post-doctoral researcher under Prof. Arthur J. Freeman at Northwestern University in Illinois, USA, from 2009 to 2011. Later, he worked at RIKEN Wako in Saitama, Japan, with Dr. Reizo Kato. During this period, he was also a visiting researcher at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) in Tsukuba, Japan, in Dr. Tsuyoshi Miyazaki's group. In January 2018, he joined Kumamoto University as a tenure-track Assistant Professor, and by January 2023, he had been granted permanent tenure and promoted to Associate Professor.
