Educated at the Universities of Glasgow and Oxford. Postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins University and National Institutes of Health. Appointed to lecturer, senior lecturer, Reader at University of Dundee; appointed to chair of psychology, Univeristy of Liverpool; appointed to Caledonian Futures Chair in Biopsychology and presently Professor of Biopsychology, University of Leeds.
