Bio:

Native from France, Professor Marc Ballivet received his PhD from the University of Geneva in 1978. He then moved from 1978 to 1981 to the Salk Institute (La Jolla, California) as a post-doctoral fellow, before coming back to Geneva, in the Department of biochemistry. In 1988, he was promoted to the position of a full Professor of biochemistry; he directed the Department of biochemistry in 1994 and 1995.
Marc Ballivet is the author of a hundred of scientific publications and has been invited to give many review lectures in international symposia. His passion for the study of the molecular mechanisms governing the behaviour and operation of neurons brought him to play a major role in the creation of a syllabus on the biochemistry of the nervous system for PhD students from the Faculties of sciences and medicine.
