Freda Gladys Newcombe, 1925-2001. First degree in Psychology at Manchester University in 1946, then clinical psychology training. She was recruited in the 1960s by Professor Ritchie Russell to work on the effects of brain injuries sustained by British ex-servicemen hit by shrapnel during the Normandy campaign.
